I haven't been in Florida for 24 hours yet and I've already spotted two STi replicas. These aren't WRX's with kits, these were a Hyundai Elantra and a Mazda Protege...

Kinja'd!!!

The Elantra was the more basic of the two. It had the bigass wing and the hood scoop up front. The scoop and the wing are what I would notice first, and I was sorely disappointed.

Kinja'd!!!

The Protege was actually really convincing. It was painted Rally Blue, had the wing and the scoop, and even had the decals on the front. It took me a minute, but the plasti-dipped Mazda emblems gave it away.

I understand intalling an STi body kit on your wrx, or swapping FoST wheels on your base focus, but to go out of your way and spend a lot of money to make these two cars look like an STi? Doesn't make sense to me...

There have to be some people living in the basement of their Grandmother's house!

That's actually my only logical explanation.

I haven't seen non-Subaru STi replicas down here, but I think that we have significantly more rice here than in many other states due to it never really getting cold and a lack of safety/smog inspections.

In Australia (probably elsewhere too) this was a factory option on the early 2000-2004 model Kia Rio.

The MP3 became the MazdaSpeed Protege. It's basically the same car, except the MP3 has the power of the standard Protege. It handled AMAZINGLY for what it was, so Mazda said "hey, this thing's great, but slow. Just needs more POOOWEEERRR!!"
